ROOM FOR CHANGE... see how it changed in 2015.
GWH - Room for Change (RFC)
30x30" canvas - mixed media
Room for Change (Jan. 16, 2013) was created for UF ARE6641 01B5, Lesson 2 - Identity.
The limitation of time (less than 2 weeks from inception to posting) challenged my creative process.
I typically create over the course of several weeks to months, with a few stolen minutes here
and occasional stretches of hours there. With RFC, I chose to illustrate significant parts of my life thus far
by using a compilation of printed inkjet replicas of selected original art and family photographs.
Choice words written in black sumi ink highlight ideas, thoughts, and key moments
that have contributed to my life and art. I envision adding to the open spaces...photos,
words, thoughts, other items.
As I grow and discover over the next couple of years, there is room for change.
SUPPLIES & PROCESS:
Selected images were reduced and printed on 8.5x11" sheets of matte photo paper.
Printed pages were protected w/ Golden Gel Topcoat w/ UVLS.
Individual images were cut and glued onto the canvas using acrylic polymer.
Multiple coats of polymer were used to secure the images in place.
Surrounding areas of white canvas were prepped with Golden Absorbent Ground
(ink will bead up and roll off of polymer-covered canvas).
Using black sumi ink and a Chinese caligraphy brush, choice words were scripted.
